Our Mission
Wickenburg Area Habitat for Humanity is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. We are a non-profit, ecumenical, Christian housing organization founded on the conviction that every man, women and child should have a simple decent place to live in dignity and safety. We build with people in need regardless of race or religion. We welcome volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds.

Importance of Affordable Housing
Habitat for Humanity International has shown that building homes for people of modest means does more than simply put a roof over their heads. With decent, affordable housing in a stable neighborhood:
* Families can provide stability for their children.
* A family's sense of dignity and pride to grow.
* Health, physical safety and security improve.
* Educational and job prospects increase.

How Does It Work?
Wickenburg Area Habitat for Humanity carries out its mission through generous donations of money and materials from individuals, corporations and churches. Those donations allow Habitat to build homes along side our homeowner families. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payment, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor into building their Habitat home and the homes of others. Habitat houses are sold to the families at non-profit and financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are then used to build still more Habitat houses.

How Families Are Selected
Families in need of decent, affordable housing apply to the Wickenburg Area Habitat for Humanity. Families are chosen based on their level of need, their willingness to become partners in the building process and their ability to repay the loan.
